Part 1: Kickoff Workshop
Working with the Green Mountain United Way team, we dove deep into a workshop to clarify our goals, establish personas for the people we need to engage towards those objectives, and started ideating on what we could create together. Coming out of that session the GameTheory team created several possible action plans for projects for the team to pick from.

Part 2: Designing the Activity
The GameTheory team got to work envisioning a card game that would help people understand the lived experience of managing life on the benefits cliff. We collaborated deeply with the subject matter experts at WIC to ground the rules and gameplay in not only the lived experience of those experiencing this challenge, but how they would use the game in workplaces to change perceptions and push for solutions adoption.

Part 5: Creating Impact
GameTheory delivered the compelted game experience and collaborated with United Way to creat additional materials to support using the game in the field to achieve our project goals. We created a plan for assessing how the game did on measurable outcomes and continue to collaborate with the United Way team as they begin using the game with their partners.

"The Benefits Cliff" is a national issue where someone taking a pay increase can mean they lose access to critical services, and often that pay increase can result in a net loss for them and their family. This risk and balancing act presents a major barrier for many towards economic mobility.
